Syrian Defense Minister Mustapha Tlass will head on Friday a reconciliation meeting between the Bedouins and the farmers who engaged in bloody tribal clashes last November, according to families of the victims.

The meeting will take place in the city hall of Suwaidaa, the metropolis of the southern Syrian province. Tlass will deputize for Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Sources told Albawaba.com that financial compensations will be paid for the victims’ families and to make up for the material damage inflicted on both sides, who engaged in fire exchange following a dispute over grazing areas.

19 people were killed in separate bloody incidents on November 6 and 28.

According to the sources, the authorities will announce new laws governing grazing in the rural area.

Minister Tlass is linked to the residents of the region with friendly old ties that date back to early fifties when he was working as a schoolteacher there.
