Syrian Foreign Minister Faruq Al-Sharaa warned on Sunday Israel would one day have to bend to Palestinian demands, claiming the Jewish state had hit a dead end and would have to sign up to international law and Arab peace initiatives.

He said he and his Algerian colleague Abdelaziz Belkhadem had reviewed "Israel's premeditated errors aiming at undermining any true peace initiative and preventing the recovery of the Palestinian people's rights."

"Israel will end up yielding to Palestinian demands because Tel Aviv is at dead end whose only way out is the political process based on international legality and the Arab peace initiative," he said, according to AFP.

Al-Sharaa, in Algiers on a two-day visit, brought Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika a letter from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on bilateral relations. During his talks with Bouteflika, he had raised the situation in the occupied territories and "Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people."

"Stress was laid on the importance of coordination between the two countries and their efforts to strengthen the rights of Arab countries in international forums," he added. "Relations between Damascus and Algiers must be consolidated and given new impulse," the Minister concluded.
