Syrian troops pulled out from three positions around Baalbek in east Lebanon's Bekaa Valley and evacuated the Kleiaat airstrip in the north as their redeployment went into its fourth straight day Thursday.
An Nahar quoted a Lebanese army officer as saying the Baalbek pullout came as a surprise because it was not included in the original plan of the ongoing operation, which started on Monday.
Several coastal positions in northern Lebanon were vacated by the Syrians on Wednesday in addition to the withdrawal from the Rene Mouawad airfield in Kleiaat, which was described as the most significant pullout in the Akkar province. (Albawaba.com)
