Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara received in the capital of Damascus Tuesday former US ambassador to Syria and Chairman of the James Baker Institute for General Politics in Washington, Edward Djerjian.
During the meeting, talks focused on latest regional developments and the importance of changing the Middle East into a region free of weapons of mass destruction, according to the official Syrian Arab News Agency.
In addition, talks centered on the US attitudes towards the Iraqi issue and the importance of “avoiding Iraq a war through peaceful solutions”, especially since Iraq cooperates “actively and positively” with UN inspectors in the framework of its implementation of UN Resolution 1441, SANA added.
