Syrian militant group Ahrar al-Sham claims car bomb deaths of Russian officials

Ahrar al-Sham and in coordination with “AlBayan special forces” announced today that they succeeded in attacking a military site in Latakia with an explosive car which led into the death of several senior Russian officers.

Ahrar al-Sham clarified in an official statement that an explosive car was planted in the military location after hard intelligence work which led to the death of several senior Russian officers.

The statement also said that, “After weeks of hard intelligence work we were able to determine the location and time of the meeting and planted the car in the location.”

The explosion occurred at 13:10 on Sunday the 21st of February. However the announcement came after the militants in charge of the operation returned to their base.

The organization's official statement also said, “ after the explosion several ambulances and Russian choppers rushed to the location and they were seen evacuating deaths and wounded Russians to Latakia and Jableh hospitals.”
