Syrian opposition forces are claiming to have killed 25 Hezbollah militants and captured 10 others during fighting north of Damascus.

The Syrian Revolution General Commission said on Monday that fierce clashes took place between Jeyish al-Fatah – a united front for a number of opposition groups – and the Lebanon-based Shia militia in Jayrud al-Maara town in the Qalamon area.

Qalamoun is close to the Lebanese border.

Clashes have been taking place since last week between Syrian rebels and Hezbollah, which is fighting alongside the regime of President Bashar al-Assad. Hezbollah has not provided any confirmation of the losses.

Meanwhile, Hussein Nasser, a spokesman for the al-Sham Front, told Anadolu Agency on Monday that the group had taken control of five villages – including Shahba, Hasin and Hassiya – from Daesh, north of Aleppo.
