Nearly a dozen rockets fired from Syria hit areas in and around the city of Baalbek Wednesday night, injuring a number of people.
The National News Agency said 11 rockets, fired from the anti-Lebanon mountain range on the border with Syria, hit various locations, including the Shawarna neighborhood of the city, close to the home of MP Ghazi Zeaiter.
Agence-France Presse, citing a security source, said two projectiles landed near the city’s famous Roman ruins. Another three rockets hit the city’s center while others landed in areas near the city, AFP said. Al-Jadeed television said one child was wounded in the barrage, while other media spoke of up to five people who were injured.
The attack came hours after Syrian army troops and Hezbollah fighters gained control of the Syrian city of Qusair, near the border with Lebanon.
