ALBAWABA- In a significant development, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed received a phone call from Ahmed Al-Sharaa, Commander-in-Chief of the New Syrian Administration.
The leaders discussed strengthening fraternal ties between the two nations and areas of mutual interest.
During the call, Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed the UAE's unwavering support for Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He expressed solidarity with the Syrian people, emphasizing the UAE’s commitment to backing all efforts that promote security, peace, stability, and a dignified life for Syrians.
Notably, the UAE was the first Arab nation to normalize ties with Bashar Al-Assad's regime post 2011 civil war, actively working to counter U.S. Caesar Act sanctions and facilitating Syria’s reintegration into the Arab League.
Following the fall of the Assad regime, the UAE expressed concerns about Islamist factions potentially gaining power in Syria.

Meanwhile, the Syrian News Agency (SANA) reported that the call highlighted the importance of enhancing bilateral relations to serve the shared interests of both countries. Both leaders stressed the need for ongoing coordination and intensified efforts to support Syria’s unity, stability, and development.
Separately, the UAE’s Foreign Minister engaged in a phone conversation with his Syrian counterpart, Assad Al-Shibani, to discuss developments in Syria and explore ways to deepen cooperation in areas of mutual concern.
The UAE emphasized its commitment to preserving Syria’s unity and sovereignty, supporting inclusive efforts to achieve a comprehensive transition that fulfills the aspirations of the Syrian people for security, development, and prosperity.
