Tabreed, the Middle East’s award-winning district cooling pioneer, has given its management team a boost through the appointment of Karl Marietta as Deputy CEO in addition to his current responsibilities as Vice President, Administration and Finance.

Marietta, who joined Tabreed as Director of Finance over nine years ago, holds a BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University and a Masters in Business Administration from the Metropolitan Campus, Minnesota State University.

“Ever since Tabreed’s inception in 1998, Karl has played a significant role in solidifying the company’s position as the world’s largest district cooling pioneer,” said Dany Safi, CEO.  “An industry veteran, and one of the company’s main pillars, Karl brings sound judgement to his new role and is well-equipped to provide strong leadership for our business.

“We are confident that Karl’s constant pursuit of business excellence and commitment will help Tabreed exceed financial targets, generate stronger shareholder returns and lead the company into the next stage of growth.”

Marietta has over 30 years experience in district energy and electric utility industries in the engineering, operations, management, marketing and finance departments.

Commenting on his new role, Marietta said: “In the last few years, the district cooling industry, both regional and international, has progressed at a phenomenal pace, and Tabreed, which is at the forefront of this development, has seen tremendous growth.

“I look forward to the new challenge and to further strengthen Tabreed’s business model and ensure incremental returns for our shareholders.”


Marietta has also been active in the International District Energy Association serving in leadership positions, speaking at various conferences and has received several international awards.
