The Taliban have executed two fighters on treason charges, dumping their bodies on the Kabul-Kandahar highway in southern Zabul province, an official said on Saturday.
Abdul Samad Durrani, the Shahr-i-Safa administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News that bodies of the slain militants were recovered in Baryam Manda locality.
He said hands and legs of the men, about 30 years of age,had been fastened. A note left at the site read the two had committed treason and were killed for disloyalty to the group.
The note also had telephone numbers of the dead. Durrani said it was not yet clear whether the slain men were Taliban.
