ALBAWABA - Following the Pakistani airstrike that killed at least 8 people in eastern Afghanistan, the Taliban warned Islamabad on Monday that attacks on its territory could have "very bad consequences" following deadly air strikes in eastern Afghanistan.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, said in a statement: "Such incidents can have very bad consequences which will be out (of) Pakistan's control,".

Mujahid earlier stated that 8 people,  all women and children, were killed on Monday in "reckless" air strikes by the Pakistani military in the border regions of Afghanistan.

Border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have escalated since the Taliban administration took control in 2021, with Islamabad accusing militant organizations of carrying out regular strikes from the neighboring country.

According to spokesman Mujahid, Pakistani aircraft shelled civilian dwellings in Khost and Paktika regions near the Pakistani border around 3:00 a.m. (2230 GMT Sunday).

The airstrikes came after seven Pakistani troops were killed in an attack within Pakistani territory on Saturday, prompting President Asif Ali Zardari to pledge revenge.

While attending the funerals of the Pakistani troops killed lately, Zardari stated: "Pakistan has decided that whoever will enter our borders, homes or country and commit terror, we will respond to them strongly, regardless of who it is or from which country,".
