Tanmia, the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority, has recently announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with eight governmental and private organisations for the training and employment of over 1,000 UAE nationals for various job profiles.
The MoUs were signed during the Careers UAE 2008 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, between Feddah Lootah, Acting General Manager, Tanmia, and representatives of Emirates National Development Programme (ENDP), Ministry of Finance, du, Dubai Courts, Lloyds Bank, Barclays Bank, The National Resources Investment & Development Corporation (Mawared), National Institute of Vocational Education and TBC Skyline College.
“Signing the MoUs will expand our network of partnerships with government and private organisations as well as support Tanmia’s efforts in sustaining its drive of providing UAE National job seekers with training and employment opportunities," said Feddah Lootah.
"A significant number of UAE nationals who have been employed have proven their competency in various fields of expertise and we look forward to achieving more success with our new partners," added Lootah.
Under the MoUs, Tanmia will coordinate with its new program partners to provide specialised and advanced training to job seekers. Over the years, a number of banks, companies, and large institutions based in the UAE have signed agreements with Tanmia to support the Authority's efforts of training and employing jobseekers registered in its database.
About Tanmia:
Tanmia, the National Human Resource Development & Employment Authority in the UAE, was established by a Presidential decree in November 1999, to address the imbalance in the labour market, due to excessive dependence on expatriate workforce. Tanmia is engaged in a coordinating role, between national job seekers and employers in the private and government sectors, to facilitate increased entry of nationals in the labour market. The responsibilities that rest with the Authority are: to set up the overall policy of the Authority and supervise its implementation, conduct sustained operational and administrative labour market studies and analysis, provide career counseling and guidance to the national work force, follow-up and evaluate employment of nationals in public and private sectors, support small investment enterprises through the establishment of self-employment projects for national human resources and develop programmes for training and qualifying nationals seeking employment, in conformity with the labour market needs.
