Tasteless Victory For Zamalek

Zamalek's unconvincing 2-1 victory over Ethiopia's Bon disappointed the Egyptian spectators who expected to enjoy a one-sided match similar to that of Ahli defeating Africa's Fitalo, a day before, Saturday, in the qualifying round for the Africa Cup Championship at Cairo Stadium.

This tasteless victory is not good enough to promise either Zamalek or its fans any guarantees of qualifying into the quarterfinal, unless they achieve a miracle and beat the Ethiopians again in the second leg that is to be played this time on the visitors ground after two weeks.

The selfish and disorganized play impaired home's effort, as they failed to reach the visitors' net more than two times throughout the match. The first goal came by a doubtful penalty kick when one of the Ethiopians defenders tried to free a ball, which hit his team's hand, and Abdul Halim Ali scored the second goal.

Zamalek, however, now has no other choice but to get qualified, no matter what, if they want to make up with their upset fans.

Victory might refer to the performance's favorite but not in Zamzlek's case who had all winning factors to end the match with a better result, especially with a team like the visitors – (Several Sources)
