Technogym, the leading provider of premium fitness appliances world wide will take part at the Hotel Show 2010 held at Dubai World Trade Centre from 18 to 20 May 2010 and will be located at Stand number E5221. Technogym will showcase its new Products – Green Group Cycle, Visio Web and Jog Now. Technogym will also feature Club 2.0 the future of the clubs and The Wellness Suite Solution concept comprising of the Kinesis Personal, Run Personal and Wellness Tools.

The Green Group Cycle sets a new and more ambitious goal: producing green energy from clean sources. And what’s cleaner than people’s movements! After years of engagement in developing products and solutions for energy saving –Thanks to Technogym’s latest experimental concept the energy produced on exercise bikes can now be channelled into the electric network and used to power the gym’s electrical appliances. An innovation that reduces the consumption of energy produced externally using traditional, pollutant methods. So the gym of the future becomes a mini, self-sufficient power station, thanks to the energy produced by the physical movements of its users.

Estimates forecast that every bike, when used at medium intensity, can produce about 120 Watt, the energy to power a high luminosity bulb. This means that an average gym, equipped with about 40 machines could become completely self-sufficient as far as lighting is concerned during peak times when all the machines are in use.

Mr. Christian Dietrich, Managing Director, Technogym Emirates, said, “Technogym’s presence at the Hotel Show 2010 is to confirm our leadership in the hotel and Spa Industry and position Technogym as an eco friendly green solutions provider to the hotel industry and not only an equipment manufacturer. Technogym as the industry leader provides tastefully designed and intelligently engineered products to offer green solutions. This year Technogym will also be launching its latest addition to the already very extensive cardio equipment line with stunning technology features thus representing a revolution in the cardiovascular equipment.”

Worldwide there are about 110,000 gyms and they are equipped with approximately 1 million 500 thousand cardiovascular machines that could be used to produce Energy. So if the Technogym Green Concept were applied to all this equipment, the Wellness sector could produce enough energy to power 20,000 homes, which is equivalent to a city of over 70,000 inhabitants.

These are extremely significant statistics from the point of view of the battle against atmospheric pollution. Clean Energy produced by fitness machines and channelled into a network not only saves on energy produced using conventional methods (fossil fuels), it also reduces C02 emissions. If the Technogym Green concept were applied to all the gym equipment in the world then the reduction in C02 would be equivalent to the emissions produced by a medium-powered car driving around the world 10,000 times.

CLUB 2.0, is a totally new approach for clubs to better understand their members. The focus of CLUB 2.0 is to establish people’s aspirations and understand the way in which this determines how they use the gym. This unique tool enables the club to match customer experiences to their aspirations and goals.
