A British teenager girl, aged 14, who ran away to marry a Turkish barman was forced Sunday to return home by her parents after her husband-to-be was arrested by police officials, according to Anatolia news agency.
"I am returning against my free will. I love Turkey and Mehmet," said Rachel Lloyd before boarding a flight to Britain.
Lloyd became engaged to marry Mehmet Ocak, aged 24, after meeting him during a family vacation in May to Marmaris, according to Turkish media.
Ocak was arrested by police on Saturday on suspicion of corrupting a minor, and Rachel was handed over to her father, who traveled to Turkey in search of his young daughter.
Infatuated with Ocak, Lloyd returned to Turkey during the summer, and her parents later confiscated their daughter’s passport to put an end to the relationship.
However, the girl managed to renewed her passport, traveled to Turkey, and was able to find Ocak despite him having moved to his mother's home in Gaziantep to evade being followed by Interpol, the news agency cited police sources as saying. (Albawaba.com)
