In collaboration with the Princess Basma Youth and Research Center, Radio Monte Carlo Doualiya held a journalism workshop for 15 teenagers from the Northern Hachem region, assisting them in producing news reports that will be broadcast across the Middle East on the radio station, in addition to a short film about the participants and the workshop being aired on France 24.
The young Jordanian journalists will present their radio and film production in an event held in the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Rym Ali at the Royal Film Commission in Amman on May 11th at 7.30pm.
The youngsters, aged 12 to 17, gathered in a neighborhoood of East Amman and with the assistance of Tarek Kai, a journalist from Monte Carlo Doualiya, they chose subjects they considered as important to tell concerning their communities and created news bulletins around those subjects in the studios of Farah el Nas, which is part of the project of Princess Basma Youth and Research Center.
The reports were also videotaped by young filmmakers co-ordinated by the Royal Film Commission - Jordan, with the assistance of Lyana Saleh, a Journalist from France 24, the French International news channel. The reports will be aired on Monte Carlo Doualiya and the ‘Making of’ these reports will also be broadcast on France 24.
During the event at the Royal Film Commission, Nahida Nakad, head of news and programming for Monte Carlo Doualiya and the Arabic desk of France 24, will reward the most promising participants with a trip to Paris to spend a few days in the newsrooms of Monte Carlo Doualiya and France 24. .
This is the first of a series of workshops that Monte Carlo Doualiya aims to conduct across the region, assisting teenagers in the Middle East develop the necessary skills to effectively report the news concerning their communities.
