Thousands of Jewish settlers from 32 communities gathered outside the prime minister's residence Thursday night under the slogan, "Barak, you don't abandon brothers," to protest the government's reported plans to dismantle settlements and force others to live under the Palestinian Authority control, reported the Jeruslem Post.
Police were forced to close the street leading to the residence due to the large crowd, said the daily.
Earlier, in the Gaza Strip, Israeli residents marked the inauguration of 15 new homes. Construction and housing minister Yitzhak Levy, who presided over the ceremony, said that settlers would continue to build and strengthen their communities, whether in Gaza or the West Bank, the Jerusalem Post said.
"The Palestinians will not tell us where to build," he was quoted as saying - Albawaba.com
