Three people died when their home in northern Egypt collapsed after they had ignored a warning to leave the building because it was unsafe, the state-run MENA news agency reported Sunday.
The authorities had condemned for demolition the two-storey home in a poor neighborhood of the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, and urged its inhabitants to evacuate it, MENA said.
The authorities later evacuated a home next to the ill-fated building, the agency said.
Seven people died, including a six-year-old boy, and three were seriously injured just over a week ago after a building used as a bakery collapsed in Alexandria after heavy rains, police said.
Another woman died when the bathrooms on three floors of a separate five-storey apartment block in the same city crumbled away from the building, the police said.
Dozens of Egyptians are killed every year in building collapses, most of which occur after they have been declared unsafe. Twenty people died when an Alexandria clothing factory collapsed in July after a fire -- CAIRO (AFP)
