The International Public Relations Association Gulf Chapter (IPRA-GC) has announced its programs for 2007 following its recent Board of Directors meeting that was held in Dubai.

With the objective of changing the traditional image of public relations in the Kingdom and the Gulf, IPRA's strategy involves organizing a series of seminars and conferences to create awareness of the public relations industry.  To this extent, IPRA will organize and participate in three key conferences in Jeddah, Kuwait, and Manama.  These conferences will feature leading media and communications experts from the Arab and Western World presenting their long experience in the field.

The Public Relations Forum is scheduled to take place next week in Jeddah, organized by the Arab Conferences Company (ARC) in cooperation with the International Public Relations Association and the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The theme of the Forum is building, enhancing, and reinforcing corporate image for companies and organizations, and it is expected to draw a large number of experts and practitioners in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Commenting on behalf of IPRA-GC, Hasan Al-Hasan President of IPRA-GC said, "It is very difficult in our day and age for companies to ignore the importance of corporate image whether it is a private, public, or non-profit.  It is foreseeable that there will be a growing demand for specialist companies in this field to deal with the issue of corporate image by building strategies for these companies based on sound scientific research and studies."

Al-Hasan continued, IPRA-GC's strategy for 2007 came about after in-depth research and the recommendations that have been announced stem from Saudi Arabia's first Public Relations Forum that was held in Jeddah last year.  We are happy to transform these recommendations to realities that serve the objectives of IPRA-GC and its members."

The IPRA-GC Western Region Director in the Kingdom and head of the organizing committee of the PR Forum in Jeddah highlighted the importance of creating direct awareness through seminars and educational road shows, noting that IPRA-GC will organize a series of educational seminars at universities and colleges in Jeddah in addition to lectures highlighting the important role and best practices in the field of public relations.

IPRA-GC opened its doors for membership providing a unique opportunity for members to exchange ideas and make use of local, regional, and international expertise, in addition to attending the regular lectures and courses organized in the Kingdom and receiving the periodic publications.  IPRA-GC has an interactive website (www.ipra-gc.com).

The International Public Relations Association – Gulf Chapter is a regional chapter of the International Public Relations Association.  IPRA-GC was initially formed in 2003.  Members come from all GCC countries including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Oman.  The Chapter has an elected board chaired by a president.  Working along with him is the vice president and directors for each region, as well as directors for certification and training, memberships, media relations, and treasury.
