Three Spanish journalists were released in northern Syria on Saturday, Spanish media said.

The trio - Antonio Pampliega, Jose Manuel Lopez and Angel Sastre - were freed in Aleppo after 10 months in captivity, the EFE news agency reported.

El Pais newspaper said the men had been moved to Turkey and were waiting to be returned to Spain.

In July, the Spanish Federation of Journalists announced the freelancers had been kidnapped by Daesh, which has previously abducted and executed foreign journalists and aid workers.

The group has occasionally demanded ransoms in exchange for the release of abductees.
