Three Xerox Colour Multifunction Systems Meet Full Office Network Needs With Benchmark Productivity, Image Quality

Published October 19th, 2009 - 02:11 GMT

Three new colour multifunction systems from Xerox Corporation deliver benchmark productivity and image quality in meeting the full range of printing, copying, scanning and faxing needs on today’s office networks.  The new Xerox WorkCentre® 7755/7765/7775 Colour Multifunction Systems print and copy as many as 75 pages per minute (ppm) — up to 50 ppm for colour — and offer leadership ease-of-use, ease-of-management, security and cost-control features. They are ideal workhorse solutions for offices, departments, branches and centralized reproduction departments (CRDs) with mid- to high-volume needs.

“Office network users and managers want multifunction systems that are both powerful and easy to use, that offer top quality and productivity, have low running costs, and are secure,” said Dan Smith, General Manager for Integrated Marketing, Xerox, MEA (DMO).
“Our new WorkCentre systems elegantly deliver on all these requirements to make them favorite resources for both casual and power users, and for network managers as well.”

Colour multifunction systems that accommodate A4-size paper — as all three new Xerox models do — are projected to grow faster worldwide than any other office copying and printing segment. According to Xerox research, the colour A4 segment will experience a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19 percent in installations and 30 percent in revenue generation from 2007 to 2012, as the percentage of colour systems installed rises from 37 to 51 percent.

High Quality, High Productivity
The three new Xerox systems share a number of advanced capabilities to help drive this growth. Their 2400x2400 dots-per-inch image resolution is the benchmark for the segment, and Xerox Emulsion Aggregation High Gloss toner complements the high resolution with a professional finish for outstanding image quality. Advanced colour and workflow management is available with the optional EFI® Fiery® Network Server, which provides tools for precise colour matching and production workflows that automate page imposition and other tasks.

Rapid input and output speeds contribute to the systems’ high productivity. Print and copy speeds range from 40 pages per minute (ppm) for colour and 55 ppm for monochrome with the WorkCentre 7755 to 50/65 ppm for the WorkCentre 7765 and 50/75 for the WorkCentre 7775. Monochrome scanning is at a rapid 80-ppm for monochrome and 50 ppm for colour., at resolutions as high as 600x600 dpi.

For optimal efficiency, the machines enable multiple users to simultaneously perform different tasks. Productivity is further enhanced with the Xerox Extensible Interface Platform™.  EIP enables users to program personalised workflow solutions for access from the devices’ intuitive touch screen — for example, to automatically scan and email files to a distribution list — and also provides “packaged” workflows. To limit job interruptions, the systems feature two online black toner cartridges, the capability to load paper while the machine is running, and an automatic “print around” feature that can prioritize jobs in the queue based upon the availability of their paper types or sizes. Intuitive, bi-directional print drivers enable users to save time by monitoring device activity from their desks.  To limit service downtime, many of the systems consumables are customer replaceable, including toners, drums, fuser, charge corotron and the waste bottle.

The systems share a 3,260-sheet paper capacity that is expandable to 5,260 sheets for long, uninterrupted runs from as many as six trays, including a 250-sheet duplex automatic document feeder, the highest capacity DADF in the segment. Every tray handles heavy media, ranging from 17 lb. bond to 110 lb. cover (64 to 300 gsm). Half a dozen finishing options range from a simple offset catch tray to advanced systems offering stacking, hole-punching, multi-position stapling, saddle-stitch booklet making, folding and post-process interposing.

All three models offer leadership print, copy, scan and fax features, from page-level print programming and automatic tray switching to optional scanning to various locations and email, and a choice of one or two optional fax lines.  This set of controller features is based on the Xerox Discovery Platform and has the same look and feel as that found on the latest range of Xerox monochrome products.

Easy Management, Easy Protection
Xerox CentreWare® Web enables information technology administrators to easily install, configure, manage, monitor and report on all network devices, regardless of the manufacturer. Xerox Standard Accounting manages access and gathers data about printing, scanning, copying and faxing on the new devices.  Access to colour printing and copying can be controlled and allocated by user and department to better control costs. Additional automated features enable collection and sending of operational reports to Xerox service, and automated meter reads.

A number of standard and optional security features provide a wide range of user-definable controls to protect the entire workflow, tracking usage and controlling access to the machine and the information they process. The three systems are ENERGY STAR® 2009 qualified and have many features, such as automatic duplexing, that conserve resources as well as costs.
