Thunderstorm Wreaks Havoc in Bahrain

Thunderstorms whipped Bahrain Sunday morning with winds uprooting trees and rain inundating streets in many parts of Manama and surrounding areas, the Gulf News reported Monday. 

A press statement by the Directorate of Meteorology stated, according to the daily, that fairly widespread rain was experienced almost throughout the island with 47mm of rain recorded at Bahrain International Airport. 

A gust was recorded at 62 knots, the strongest ever recorded in Bahrain -- Albawaba.com
