The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is set to
celebrate its 50th anniversary of promoting the "Land of Smiles" to visitors
from around the world this March with a roll out launch of 50 new tour packages
to discover the kingdom, as well as a program of special events to be held in
the capital Bangkok on March 23rd.
Fifty new tour packages are set to be launched that have been especially
designed to limit environmental impact, while at the same time offer travellers
new and more meaningful experiences, highlighting such attractions as
"Thainess", nature and community based experiences. Additionally, luxury,
medical and wellness travel will also be heavily featured.
In order to further spread the word of the new packages, media from around the
world, including 15 from the Gulf region alone, will be specially invited to
attend a day of seminars in Bangkok on March 23rd to learn more about the new
packages directly. Following the seminars the hosted media will then be invited
to an exclusive evening reception attended by Thai government and non-government
VIPs by the Grand Palace. Seminars will also be followed by a week of
discovering what value Thailand has to offer as a tourism destination.
Since its inception on the 18th of March in 1960, the Tourism Authority of
Thailand has been responsible for promoting the kingdom as a value for money,
quality destination offering international visitors a multitude of attractions
and experiences best summarised by its "7 Wonders of Thailand" campaign that
includes such facets as; Thainess, treasures, beaches, nature, wellness, trends
and festivals. Following 50 years of promoting Thailand to both Thai and
international tourists to travel in and around Thailand, the Tourism Authority
of Thailand (TAT) currently operates 35 regional office within the kingdom, and
following from the opening of its first overseas office in New York in 1965,
today operates a total of 22 overseas offices worldwide.
The most recent TAT overseas office to open was the Dubai and Middle East
Office, which was innaugrated in 2008, and is responsible for marketing and
promoting Thailand within the G.C.C., the Levant, Iraq and Iran.
Says the Tourism Authority of Thailand Director for the Middle East, Mr. Pramoth
Supyen; "TAT continues to develop its activities further afield worldwide and
make great efforts to ensure its position as a destination tourism leader is
maintained. With such a wealth of expertise and experience accumulated over the
last 50 years we remain committed to ensuring that all possible care is made for
visitors not only during their stay in Thailand, but also prior and after their
visit."

As just one of the many promotions and activities conducted within the Middle
East, TAT has created an online Thailand Fan Club social networking site,
whereby various exclusive competitions are conducted, such as the current photo
competition, whereby members get to share memorable photographs taken while in
Thailand and vote on the most popular.
