A multi-million dollar corruption trial of the son of Nigeria's late military ruler Sani Abacha has been postponed again until November 27, a judiciary official said on Friday.

Trial judge Mohammed Saleh is to rule on whether his court has jurisdiction to hear the corruption case brought against Mohammed Abacha and Abubakar Bagudu, his business partner, the official said by telephone from Abuja.

Bagudu's lawyer had challenged the high court's competence to try the case.

The trial had already been deferred early last month after the son of the judge hearing a gang of armed men in northern Nigeria’s Bauchi State murdered the case on September 28.

The Nigerian government has charged Mohammed, the eldest surviving son of general Sani Abacha, with 120 criminal counts, some of which are also applied to Bagudu.

The case was also adjourned on October 24 when Bagudu failed to appear in court.

Mohammed Abacha was brought up to Abuja from Lagos in early October to face charges of massive financial crimes and corrupt enrichment relating to the alleged plundering of public funds carried out while his father was in power from November 1993 to his death in June 1998 -- LAGOS (AFP)
