Middle East travellers taking the popular summer holiday route to Switzerland’s Lake Geneva region can look forward to a bumper helping of sporting activity, starting with next month’s European Triathlon Championships.
The Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne is welcoming spectators to the event which will be the last big race before the World Championships in Japan later this year.
The town has a long history of international sporting events, and has hosted the European Championships since 1999. It has been repeatedly chosen because of the challenging, undulating course it presents to athletes, and because of the spectacular lake and mountain scenery en route.
The course includes two 750 metre laps around the Olympic Museum, passes the beautiful town hall, and finishes in front of Ouchy Castle. The swimming section of the tournament will take place in the nearby Ouchy Quay.
Azouz Masrouki, Middle East Consultant at the Beau-Rivage Palace says that Lausanne’s rich sporting calendar is a big draw for Middle Eastern vacationers.
“In Lausanne, there is always something going on to please sports lovers – whether they want to participate or simply watch”, he says.
“Middle Eastern visitors are always particularly keen to combine sporting elements with relaxation and at the Beau-Rivage Palace we are perfectly equipped to cater for their needs – which is why we are repeatedly the hotel of choice for visitors to events such as this.”
Surrounded by acres of private parkland sweeping down to the shores of Lake Geneva, the Beau-Rivage Palace is an oasis of peace and sheer luxury. Guests can enjoy use of the hotel’s fitness centre and tennis courts and can also take boat trips on the lake from the nearby quayside. Limousines will be on standby to whisk them off in style to watch the triathlon events.
The championships are being held on August 20 and 21. Middle East travellers wanting to make reservations can e-mail the Beau-Rivage Palace team at info@brp.ch or telephone + 41 21 613 3333. More information about the competition can be found by visiting www.trilausanne.ch
