At least 21 Shiite militants were killed when residents in a tribal region of Yemen opened fire on the rebels' vehicles, AFP reported Friday.
The extremists were caught in an ambush in southern Yemen while traveling from Lahj toward Aden in three vehicles, local witnesses told AFP.
The incident occurred shortly after Shiite militants in Aden clashed with the popular committees, an anti-Houthi militia that still controls parts of the city. Iran-backed Houthi insurgents are currently battling Hadi supporters in the southern port city, while the Saudi-led coalition continues to conduct airstrikes against the rebels.
