ALBAWABA - After his New York "hush money" conviction, former President and Republican presidential contender Donald Trump raised $56 million more than Joe Biden.

The FEC, which regulates election campaigns, disclosed Trump and Biden's May fundraising data.

Trump and the Republican National Committee raised $141 million in May for the November presidential election, according to FEC reports.

Trump's $50 million Super PAC payment from billionaire Timothy Mellon on the day the New York jury found him guilty was notable.

Trump's bank account has about $170 million in campaign money. However, Biden and the DNC raised $85 million in May.

After his conviction, Trump's May donations eclipsed Biden's by $56 million, while Biden's campaign account had $212 million.

This figure excludes $40 million collected during a Los Angeles gala attended by former President Barack Obama and celebrities, and $20 million raised by former Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Democrats lead Republicans by $40 million in total donations, but Trump may narrow this deficit by November.

On March 18, 2023, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office accused Trump with unlawful "hush money" payments to Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential election. Trump, who rejected the allegations, started his New York trial on April 15, 2024. On May 31, 2024, the jury convicted him on all 34 counts after six weeks.
