ALBAWABA - U.S. administration officials said that President Donald Trump told his assistants he is ready to end the military campaign against Iran.
According to reports, Trump is willing to halt the war even if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, postponing any complex operation to reopen it until later.
The officials told The Wall Street Journal that the U.S. President is focused on achieving his primary objectives of weakening Iran's navy and missile arsenal, while simultaneously pressuring Tehran diplomatically to resume the free flow of trade.
Washington's allies in Europe and the Gulf could then take over reopening the strait if those efforts fail.
According to the newspaper, the officials indicated that the president has military options available to him, but they are not among his immediate priorities.
