ALBAWABA - Israeli Army Radio reports that U.S. President Donald Trump has formally cut off communication with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu due to allegations of manipulation and lack of cooperation, marking a new low in tensions between the two leaders.
The story claims that Trump's advisors told Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer that the US president is angry with Netanyahu's actions, accusing him of "manipulating" Trump and breaking their agreements. According to a senior Israeli source, Dermer's customary firmness in negotiations with Republican officials hasn't worked to turn the tide.
Trump sees Netanyahu as not fulfilling his promises over his Middle East agenda, according to sources Israel Hayom reported, confirming the divide. One insider told the outlet, "Netanyahu isn't cooperating with the steps needed to advance Trump's regional vision." "Trump is moving ahead without him," another person remarked.
The Israeli source warned that Trump does not presently have a visit to Israel on his agenda and said that Trump is purposefully isolating Netanyahu in order to coerce him into complying.
Although Israeli officials have warned Trump's team about the local political sensitivity of such topics, Dermer allegedly spent hours preparing words that would quietly convey Israel's conditional openness to a future Palestinian state.
Israel Hayom said earlier this year that Trump was "deeply disappointed" with Netanyahu, even though the United States has fully supported his administration since taking power again in January 2025. During Israel's ongoing assault in Gaza, this cooperation comprised both diplomatic and military assistance.
However, Trump's team has taken unilateral action as a result of growing irritation with Netanyahu's refusal to pursuing shared strategic objectives. For instance, Tel Aviv was taken aback when the United States and Yemen's Houthi rebels recently reached a ceasefire agreement without Israeli intervention.
According to those close to Trump, this is a part of a larger change: Washington is moving on with changing its Middle East strategy without waiting for Israeli input.
