ALBAWABA - The first court hearing regarding former President Donald Trump's eligibility to run in the elections took place.
Most Supreme Court justices found Colorado's argument, which barred Trump from appearing on the ballots, unconvincing. Meanwhile, in Nevada, Trump's main opponent within the party lost the primary election.
In the US, the Colorado State Government had previously ruled that Trump's involvement in the January 6, 2021, events amounted to "insurrection," leading to his disqualification from appearing on the state's election ballots.
During the initial session at the US Supreme Court, arguments from Colorado officials and Trump's legal team were heard concerning his role in the Capitol riot and his eligibility to participate in the elections.
The court emphasized that states have limited authority in determining a presidential candidate's eligibility and whether they were involved in the insurrection, as outlined by the constitution.
In the United States, Republican candidate Haley, who was the leading contender in Nevada, lost in the primary. Approximately 60% of voters chose the "none of the candidates" option on the ballot, demonstrating support for Trump, the strongest Republican candidate, who did not partake in this election.
