Tunisia Ready for Mediterranean Games

Tunisia, the hosting country for 14th Mediterranean Games, has just finished major preparations for the upcoming event, scheduled to take place between 2-15 September 2001. 

Kick off will be at November 7 Stadium. The semi-covered playfield is designed to accommodate 60,000 spectators and 100 cameras. It will be also the stage for the closing ceremony and other major events such as soccer finals. 

Located next to Radas Forest, the facility will be officially opened in November 2000. it is planned that the Tunisian national soccer team will play against an international team, not named yet. 

The Mediterranean Games were launched in 1951, following an Egyptian proposal made in 1948 during a meeting of the Olympic International Committee. Croatia is candidate to host the 15th edition in Rijeka in 2005 – (Several Sources)
