A "terrorist cell" composed of four elements was dismantled in the region of Sijoumi, the Interior Ministry said on Monday.
“The Takfiri elements were planning to go to Libya and later to Syria after swearing allegiance to terrorist organisation “Daesh,” said a statement from the Interior Ministry, adding that computer equipment and cell phones were seized.
The four people are accused of “belonging to a terrorist organisation and planning to illegally cross the border to join hotbeds of tension,” said the same source.
Tunisia also shut down Daesh-affiliated groups in mid-January. In November, Tunisian authorities arrested seventeen militants allegedly plotting large-scale attacks on hotels and tourist locations.
