The Tunisian labor union UGTT announced protests on Sunday to oust the Islamist-led government, according to Middle East Online. UGTT is accusing the Islamists of delaying talks to resolve the current political crisis and map out the country's future.
The labor union is planning mass protests across the country, followed by a huge rally in the capital to oust the government by force.
UGTT earlier this week reported that the Islamist coalition had accepted parts of a roadmap outlining a new transitional government, but reported that talks failed Saturday after the ruling Ennahda party refused to announce its immediate resignation as part of the plan. However, UGTT further stated "the door is still open" for Ennahda to return to the table for talks, but that UGTT and the other coalitions "cannot wait for long."
UGTT has been acting as the mediator between the Islamist-led government and the secularist opposition after July's assassination of a lead opposition figure has enveloped the country in political turmoil.
