A Tunisian border guard was killed when extremist gunmen attacked the Algerian border, AFP reported Monday.

Ridha Ennasri, president of the union of border guards, confirmed the killing and said one other guard was wounded. State-owned Wataniya TV reported three were wounded.

The killing follows an attack on a Tunisian policeman days earlier. It is unknown whether the attack was carried out by extremists.

Tunisia has been in a state of emergency since the attack claimed by Daesh (ISIS) on a Sousse beach resort in June killed 38 foreign tourists, most of them British.
