Turkey: 16-year-old opens fire at police station, kills 2 officers in Izmir

ALBAWABA - Two Turkish police members were killed in a gun attack on a police station in the Balçova district in the city of Izmir on Monday, local media reported. 

Another policeman was seriously injured in the attack, BirGün Gazetesi outlet revealed in a report. The officer was transferred by the Turkish emergency services to Dokuz Eylül University Research and Practice Hospital.

In detail, the incident occurred at the Salih İşgören Police Station in the Çetin Emeç neighborhood of the Balçova district in Izmir when an unidentified person arrived at the station and opened fire, hitting three police officers

The attack was reportedly carried out by a 16-year-old boy with a pump-action shotgun.

The motivation behind the attack is still unknown.
