ALBAWABA - Turkish security sources told Anadolu agency that seven suspects including a special detective, who allegedly sold data they obtained to Mossad, were detained in a joint operation by Turkish intelligence and the police.
According to Turkish security sources, the operation was carried out in coordination between the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MİT) and the Istanbul Police Department Anti-Terrorism Branch teams to incarcerate individuals who allegedly sold the information they obtained to Mossad.
That operation was followed by another investigation that netted 34 suspects, including foreign nationals recruited by Mossad to spy on Palestinian targets in Türkiye.
During the operation, 7 suspects were detained. Initial investigation reports said that one of the suspects was Hamza Turhan Ayberk, a former police chief in Istanbul's Güngören district and a TV personality speaking on security matters and that Mossad contacted Ayberk through his agent codenamed "Victoria".
Ayberk was later trained in Belgrade by Mossad agents in 2019. He was also told to utilize an encrypted messaging app to contact the operatives. Security sources claim he was paid in cryptocurrencies to conceal the money transfers.
Ayberk also engaged in "threats" and "stalking" of his targets. He installed tracking devices in his targets' vehicles and communicated real-time information on their whereabouts to Mossad.
