Kurdish militants abduct four Turkish soldiers

Four Turkish soldiers were pulled from their vehicle near Lice Sunday and allegedly abducted by Kurdish militants, Dogan news agency reported.

The kidnapping was allegedly carried out at a checkpoint set up near the Diyarbakir province town by members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, Dogan said.

The soldiers were described as two sergeants and two lieutenants.

The kidnapping came on the heels of the the Friday deaths of two protesters during a police crackdown on a demonstration in Hakkari province.
