Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on Kurdish rebels to withdraw from Turkey and disarm at talks with jailed rebel leader Abdullah Ocalan, AP reported.

The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) has been fighting an insurgency against Ankara since 1984 that has killed tens of thousands.

Officials have not announced details of the talks, but speculation in the media has claimed a truce is on the table that could see the PKK leave Turkish territory, possibly for Kurdish areas in Iraq or Syria.
