Authorities in Turkey have started preparations to build a camp consisting of 24,000 tents near the border with Iraq in preparation for a possible refugee influx in the event of a war, according to a report Wednesday.
A Red Crescent team has been examining an area near the southeastern town of Silopi, several kilometers from the Iraqi border, which has been designated as the site for a refugee camp, members of the team told Anatolia news agency.
Local governor Gokhan Aydiner said the main Red Crescent depot would also be in Silopi. "All kinds of precautions are being considered," he said. (Albawaba.com)
