A total of 1,220 militants have been killed since early December, during the longest-running anti-terrorism operation in southeastern Turkey, according to Turkish Armed Forces figures.
Fifteen militants in the Silvan district and 274 in the Sur district, both in the Diyarbakir province, and 666 militants in the Cizre district, 120 in the Idil district, and 145 in the Silopi district, all in the Sirnak province, have been killed since the operation began.
2,287 ditches and barricades removed
Turkish security forces removed a total of 2,287 ditches and barricades during the operations. The number of removed ditches and barricades were 22 in Silvan, 243 in Sur, 971 in Cizre, 263 in Idil, and 788 in Silopi.
3,105 explosive devices defused
A total of 3,105 explosive devices which were planted in the streets, gardens, and houses of the districts by PKK militants have been defused since the operations began.
A total of 24 explosives in Silvan, 365 explosives in Sur, 1,425 in Cizre, 461 in Idil, and 830 in Silopi were defused during the operations.
Many armor-piercing weapons as well as long-barreled weapons, heavy weapons, rocket launchers and ammo, and handmade explosives and grenades were also seized in the operations.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization also by the U.S., and the EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in late July 2015.
Since then, more than 290 members of the security forces have been martyred in the operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
