Erdogan lashes out at demonstrators for 'terrorizing' the streets

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan called out protestors for provoking chaos in the streets ahead of local elections later this month, AFP reported.

Protestors came out to mourn the death of a 15-year-old boy who died from injuries suffered while participating in anti-government protests earlier last year, according to AFP.

Erdogan accused the protestors of damaging the offices of his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Istanbul.

"They are trying to get results by provoking and terrorising the streets," he said.

"You were supposed to be democrats, you were supposed to be pro-freedoms," Erdogan added.

Erdogan created a stir throughout the country last week by suggesting that the government has plans to ban social media sites such as Facebook and Youtube.
