Turkish warplanes bombed a suspected Kurdish target in northern Iraq, Turkey's military said Sunday. The cross-border air attack targeted a shelter late Saturday where a group of PKK Kurdish gunmen was believed to have gathered before a planned attack in Turkey, the military said on its Web site.
The reported air raid took place in the Avasin-Basyan region of Iraq. The hideout "was hit successfully" and the warplanes returned safely to their bases, it said.
