Twelve candidates will compete Sunday for four seats on the Beirut Bar Association's council, reported the Daily Star newspaper, adding that about 5,200 lawyers will participate in the elections.
While the candidates have various programs, each agreed on the need to promote the association at both the professional and national levels, said the paper. They also advocate immunity for lawyers, especially in court hearings, and in criminal courts where they are the most pressured.
The paper said that Mohammed Shehab is the only Muslim candidate - Albawaba.com
