An Iranian man and woman, two of the country's confirmed centenarians, live in the city of Bafq in the central province and are still active and in good health, Iran's official news agency (IRNA) reported.
Molla Hassan Bozorgi, thought to be the oldest man in the region, is a farmer and also breeds livestock.
According to the agency, Molla Hassan Bozorgi, the 111-year-old man still remembers many events in the region's history and loves to recite poems.
He said that he married once and currently has four children and some 96 grandchildren.
He attributes his long life to his preference for natural food, herbal medicines and to physical exercise.
Bibijan Farzi, the 117-year-old woman oldest woman in the region, lives in the Mobarakeh section of Bafq, located some 120km from the provincial capital city of Yazd.
The woman enjoys excellent health, has two children and seven grandchildren. She recites verses of the holy Qoran and rhymes from memory, said the agency -- Albawaba.com
