An oil factory in the Egyptian city of October 6 witnessed a tragic incident on Monday when four workers fell into a tank for refining and storage of oil.
Two of the workers died immediately and the other two were transported to the hospital where they lied in coma, the daily Al Gomhuria reported.
The security investigations revealed that the oil odor caused asphyxia to one of the workers who fell in the tank, to be followed by three others who attempted to rescue him. One of the rescuers died.
The factory owner told interrogators that his factory specializes in oil refining and production and that his workers were experienced in their work, the paper said.
“The workers were warned against coming close to the oil tanks so that they wouldn’t be affected by the odor and fall down. The smell was behind the accident and because the tanks are large, any person can fall into them and the rescue is difficult,” the report said -- Albawaba.com
