Two Jewish settlers were killed and five others injured in the West Bank city of Nablus during fire exchange between Jewish settlers, Israeli army, and armed Palestinians, said Palestinian security sources Thursday evening.
The wounded are still trapped in the area “due to the heavy cross fire,” the sources added.
The Jerusalem Post newspaper reported earlier Thursday on its web site that Israeli rescue helicopter and two combat helicopters were overflying Nablus, attempting to airlift the settlers.
Earlier, a Palestinians man was killed during in the city when settlers opened fire on Palestinians.
Fathi Al-Ardah was fatally wounded when about ten settlers opened fire on Palestinians in the village of Askar near the flash point city.
Two other Palestinians, one a policeman, were injured in the incident.
At least four Palestinians were killed and several injured Thursday in two different incidents in the West Bank.
Meanwhile, three police officers were killed, and twelve others were seriously injured in a blast at the Palestinian security headquarters in Bethlehem.
