Two soldiers were killed and five others were injured Friday when a Turkish military helicopter crashed in the eastern province of Bitlis, local security officials said.
The crash occurred around 1:30 PM (1130 GMT) as the helicopter, a US-made UH-1, was preparing to land at a local barracks near the town of Tatvan, the officials said on condition of anonymity.
The aircraft suddenly crashed into a nearby garbage dump for yet unknown reasons, they added.
