Israeli forces early Saturday destroyed bridges in the northern Gaza Strip. The Israeli army said this operation was carried out in a bid to prevent the firing of home-made Qassam rockets at towns inside Israel, Israel Radio reported. Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz ordered the Beit Hanoun operation to deal "a severe blow to the terror infrastructure," Israeli media outlets reported.
Palestinian residents said a bridge connecting Beit Hanoun to a main road was blown up. Israeli troops also destroyed the town's main electrical generator, Palestinian sources said.
In Beit Hanoun, Palestinian sources said a 19-year old was killed by Israeli gunfire and 25 residents were wounded. They also said that a 25-year old man was killed in the al-Maghazi refugee camp, which is located in the central Gaza Strip. (Albawaba.com)
