One Palestinian was killed and another sustained critical wounds and later died of his wounds in a shooting attack north of Jerusalem shortly after midnight.

The Palestinians, traveling in a commercial vehicle bearing Palestinian Authority liscense plates, were traveling near the Jewish settlement of Kochav Hashakhar, east of Ramallah, when gunmen fired volleys of semi-automatic gunfire at the vehicle, Israeli police said.

Police said they had no leads on the identity of the assailants as of Tuesday morning, but believed the attack may have been carried out by a Jewish extremist group, Army Radios said.

"The modus operandi appears to match that of previous revenge attacks carried out by Jews against Palestinians," Police said.

An organization identifying itself as "Tears of the Widows and Orphans" sent a beeper message to Israeli reporters, claiming that it carried out the shooting. The message stated that the attack was in revenge for the deaths of Jews in recent Palestinian attacks.

Ten Palestinians have been killed and over 20 wounded in eight seperate attacks, carried out by Jewish terror groups, since the beginning of the uprising. (Albawaba.com)
