Etihad Airways continues to receive industry-wide praise for its innovative online marketing strategy after winning two accolades at this year’s Pan Arab Web Awards.
The Abu Dhabi-based airline won the “Best Online Strategy” award and “Best International Standards” award at the high profile event, held at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, which recognises excellence in web design and marketing.
Etihad’s corporate website was re-launched in September 2006 to coincide with the launch of the airline’s loyalty programme and dedicated website, Etihad Guest, which now has more than 120,000 registered members worldwide.
Peter Baumgartner, Etihad’s EVP marketing and product, said: “Etihad strives to offer our customers the very best travel experience and that starts with planning their journey through our innovative website. To receive these two Pan Arab Web Awards confirms the ongoing success of our strategy with both customers and industry experts alike.”
Last year’s re-launch of www.etihadairways.com saw the introduction of a new booking engine and customer relationship management (CRM) applications which further enhances personal contact with customers.
Tehmton Cooper, Etihad’s eCommerce manager added: “Following the successful launch of the website, Etihad continues to add more features which improve customer online experience and has seen an impressive growth in online sales.”
Etihad will shortly be launching local websites exclusively for specific markets which are in local languages and offer best price guarantees and special web fares.
Other new features for 2007 will include online check-in and real-time communication facilities for mobile technology devices.
Etihad Airways has been awarded the titles of the “world’s leading new airline” in 2004, 2005 and 2006, and the “world's leading flat-bed seat” in 2006 by the World Travel Awards.
